The decision to leave the European Union is causing serious damage to our local economy.

Swansea Plaid Cymru has stated there is irrefutable evidence that the decision to leave the European Union is causing serious damage to our local economy. Professor Paul Boyce, the vice-chancellor of Swansea University, appears to agree with our assessment. He argues that unless the UK Tory government takes action to provide funding that was previously being sourced from the EU, fifty local innovative research projects could close down. These are important because they provide high quality training for local business, which in turn generates jobs and higher productivity. These projects involve solar energy and the development of new materials. The loss of funding for this kind of postgraduate research will result in a Swansea brain drain. No wonder the UK is the only major economy to still be below pre-pandemic levels. Do the people of Wales really want to stay in this clearing house of trashed economic policies and trashed moral values?'
